Main Categories

Outside of the obvious like the dictionary and thesaurus, the other options offer very thorough information. The Atlas tab allows you to choose a continent from a world map, then further select a country. It will bring up a detailed map along with other information including government, economy, population, and culture.

The features tab brings you to a page with articles related to current events. On this day in late February, there were articles on the Academy Awards, Black History Month, and President’s Day. The quizzes section contained quizzes related to these samy current events topics. You could also select another quiz by category, some of the options included biography, entertainment, sports, and the United States. Here you can also find soduko games and crosswords.

The timelines section includes timelines from World History, History of specific countries, US History, Society and Culture, Disasters, Biography, Sports, Entertainment, and Health and Science. Under Countries, you will find an alphabetical listing of countries, clicking on one will bring you to the same basic information page that you can access through the Atlas tab.

The last tab is labeled Slideshows and offers pictures of everything from buildings to animals. Some examples of the slideshows offered are 7 Wonders of the Ancient World, U.S. National Parks, and Women Nobel Prize Winners in Science. There is definitely a wide variety of categories to choose from.

This site is very thorough, covering a wide variety of topics from different angles. It is easy to use and the information provided is comprehensive and concise. It would be worth recommending to students or putting up on a classroom portal if you have one. If your students are working on any type of research project, this site would be a good starting point.
