The two sites in this guide offer many free math games for 7th grade students. These games cover everything from integers to equations to graphing. Make math more exciting for your homeschoolers!
If you homeschool, you may have noticed it is not always easy to get your student interested in math. Having a 7th grader of my own, I know this task can be very difficult. With him being a big gamer, I decided to turn online for resources to help him with his math.
If you are struggling with a reluctant math learner, consider using these games to help them along. The games make math problems a bit more interesting to solve because they have to actually figure out the math in order to continue in the game. Instead of sitting at a desk and trying to figure it out with pencil and paper, they can figure it out while playing, an option which holds universal appeal for kids raised with game consoles in the house!
My top two picks for math websites are as follows:
The first site is Math-Play. All of the math games on this website are free and easy to use. You will find math games for both boys and girls. The racing games will probably interest the boys more than the girls, unless you have a gal-racer on your hands. The math games on this site are HTML games, so you won't have to worry about having the correct flash plugin. (This can sometimes be irritating when you try to play a game and have to upload a new version of flash.)
On this site, you simply find the game you want to play and click the link. The page will refresh and the child can click Start when they are ready. You can visit Math-Play's 7th grade math games by going here.
Here are just a few of the games you will find on Math-Play:
- Adding and Subtracting Integers
- One Step Equations
- Writing Algebraic Expressions
- Comparing Angels
- Operations with Integers
Math 4 Children
Math 4 Children is another great site that offers free games for 7th grade students. This website offers both flash games and HTML games. Some of the games have a time limit on them, so they will challenge the child to work quickly. On this math game site, you can select from many math topics such as equations, decimals, and fractions. You can visit this site by clicking on this link.
Here are some of the free math games you will find on Math 4 Children:
- Algebra game with define variables to substitute 'Y' , 'X' - 1
- Algebra game with define variables to substitute 'Y' , 'X' - 2
- Algebraic expressions game
- Pre-algebra addition game
- Pre-algebra division game
Of course there are plenty more online sites that could also help your child. The two I've tested and recommend are excellent and free options. If you have any further suggestions, let us know in the comments!
